The Kerem Tunnel is the first cycle tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was opened as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital.
The tunnel is located along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Mostza route. Its southern entrance is located below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be found in Nahal Ein Kerem.
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was officially opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and the heritage minister Ze’ev Elkin and Mayor Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon Chairman of Gihon as well as a multitude of cyclists also attended.

The Kerem Tunnel first was excavated in the 90s to move an important sewer line for the Gihon Corporation towards Sorek. It is currently being used as an infrastructure Tunnel which also includes the fifth line of water to Jerusalem from the Mekorot water corporation.
